This contract BCBA opportunity is based within a welcoming public school district in Lovington, New Mexico. Lovington offers the charm of a close-knit community combined with the beauty and wide-open skies of the high desert. The area is known for its friendly neighborhoods, local youth sports, and community parks, with easy access to outdoor recreation, golf, and regional attractions throughout southeastern New Mexico. With plenty of sunshine, a relaxed pace, and a manageable cost of living, Lovington provides a comfortable setting for professionals seeking meaningful work and a balanced lifestyle. The district places a strong emphasis on student support services, inclusive practices, and collaboration, offering an environment where behavior analysts can make a significant and visible impact. This role is ideal for a BCBA who enjoys building systems, mentoring school staff, and helping shape district-wide best practices in behavioral support. In this role, you can expect a school-based schedule aligned with academic calendars, with typical hours during the school day. Specific hours and days may vary based on contract terms and district needs, but the position is generally structured around standard Monday–Friday daytime work when students are on campus. The caseload may include students in early childhood, elementary, middle, and/or high school settings, depending on district priorities. You will typically work across multiple schools within the district, with reasonable travel between buildings during the day. Key responsibilities may include: Conducting comprehensive functional behavior assessments (FBAs) for students with behavioral, social, or emotional challenges Designing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) that are practical, evidence-based, and appropriate for classroom environments Collaborating with IEP teams to integrate behavior goals and supports into individualized education programs, and providing clear data-based recommendations Coaching and modeling for teachers, paraprofessionals, and related staff on how to implement behavior plans and use ABA strategies across the school day Developing and overseeing classroom-based systems to support positive behavior, such as reinforcement systems, visual supports, and structured routines Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting behavior data to monitor student progress and adjust interventions Participating in student support, problem-solving, and MTSS/PBIS team meetings, contributing behavioral expertise to school-wide initiatives Providing training and in-service sessions on topics such as ABA principles, de-escalation strategies, data collection, and classroom management Consulting on crisis prevention and response strategies in collaboration with school leadership and student support teams Ensuring compliance with ethical and professional standards for behavior analysts in a school environment While specific student ratios and program structures vary by school, the district strives to maintain caseloads that allow for meaningful consultation, ongoing monitoring, and regular staff support. You can expect to work with a range of needs, from students requiring targeted behavior support within general education classrooms to those in specialized programs needing more intensive, individualized interventions. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to enhance and expand behavior support services within a district that values collaboration and student-centered practices.
