Job Description & Requirements
Computed Tomography Technologist - (CT Tech)
StartDate: 5/4/2026 Available Shifts: 8/12 D/E Pay Rate: $3359.00 - $3461.00
Join a dedicated imaging team as a CT Technologist in New Bedford, Massachusetts, working evening shifts in a dynamic, patient-focused hospital setting. This role offers a stable 40-hour workweek through a combination of 8- and 12-hour evening shifts, with on-call responsibilities and every other weekend coverage, providing both consistency and variety in your schedule. New Bedford is a vibrant coastal city on the South Coast of Massachusetts, known for its historic fishing and whaling port, charming cobblestone streets, and thriving arts and cultural district. The city’s revitalized downtown features galleries, restaurants, museums, and waterfront walks, giving you plenty to enjoy on your days off. You are a short drive to sandy South Coast beaches, Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod, Providence, and within reasonable reach of Boston, allowing you to enjoy both small-city convenience and access to major New England hubs. The area offers a relatively manageable cost of living compared to larger cities, making it an appealing place to live, work, and grow your career. In this role, you will perform a comprehensive range of CT examinations for emergency, inpatient, and outpatient populations. Typical studies include routine body CT, neurological imaging, trauma workups, CT angiography, and specialized protocols as ordered by radiologists. You will be responsible for patient preparation, positioning, image acquisition, and post-processing, while ensuring adherence to ALARA principles and department protocols. Your typical evening will include collaborating closely with emergency department teams for time-sensitive imaging, supporting inpatient units with STAT and routine CT exams, and managing scheduled outpatient cases when applicable. You will utilize modern CT equipment and integrated EMR/PACS systems to deliver efficient, high-quality imaging. CT technologists are expected to triage and prioritize cases based on clinical urgency, maintain clear communication with radiologists and nursing staff, and ensure that documentation and exam notes are accurate and complete. On-call responsibilities provide additional opportunities to participate in critical imaging for emergent conditions, reinforcing your expertise in acute care CT. Every other weekend rotation supports consistent patient access to imaging services while offering predictable scheduling for work-life balance. During evenings and on-call, you may function with a high degree of autonomy while still having access to supportive colleagues and radiology leadership. The imaging department emphasizes a professional, collaborative culture, where CT technologists are valued for their clinical skill and input on workflow improvements. You will be part of a team that focuses on patient safety, satisfaction, and image quality, with opportunities to expand your skills through exposure to advanced protocols and evolving imaging technologies. The environment is designed to support career progression, allowing motivated technologists to deepen their expertise in specialized CT imaging and potentially expand into leadership, education, or cross-modality roles over time. This position is well suited for technologists who enjoy a fast-paced, clinically rich evening environment, value a strong sense of teamwork, and appreciate living and working in a coastal New England community with a blend of history, culture, and outdoor recreation.
