Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) - School - (SLPA - School)

This travel SLPA assignment is based in Windsor, Connecticut, a charming and historic New England community located just north of Hartford. Windsor offers an excellent quality of life, with tree-lined neighborhoods, a strong sense of community, and convenient access to both urban and suburban amenities. The town features scenic parks and trails, nearby riverfront recreation, and easy access to regional attractions, shopping, dining, and cultural events. Its proximity to Hartford and Springfield makes it ideal for travelers who enjoy weekend excursions, sports, museums, and entertainment, while still coming home to a quieter, community-centered setting. The position is a full-time, Monday through Friday school-based role with an expected schedule of approximately 35 hours per week. This is an on-site position and will not consider teletherapy; the SLPA will be embedded within the school community and will have the opportunity to build meaningful, in-person connections with students and staff. The assignment is projected to start as soon as possible and continue through the end of the school year cycle. The SLPA will work in a PreK–2nd grade setting, providing direct speech and language services only. There are no case management responsibilities; the primary focus is on delivering high-quality, student-centered speech services under the supervision and guidance of a licensed SLP. A typical day may include individual and small-group therapy sessions, push-in and pull-out services, collaboration with classroom teachers to support communication goals in the classroom, and timely documentation of services and student progress. This role emphasizes direct treatment time and meaningful clinical work, allowing the SLPA to focus on hands-on skill development with young learners. The caseload will center on early language, articulation, phonology, and foundational communication skills, giving the SLPA valuable experience supporting early childhood and early elementary populations. This experience can be a strong resume builder for clinicians interested in school-based practice, pediatric specialties, or future growth into more advanced roles. The school follows its established academic calendar, and travelers should expect that they will be paid only for hours actually worked. School holidays and closures, including professional development days and inclement weather closures, are unpaid for the traveler. Time off during school breaks will align with the district’s calendar. Within the school environment, the SLPA will be part of a supportive educational team, working closely with supervising SLPs, special education staff, and general education teachers.
