This school-year contract Speech-Language Pathologist role is based in the beautiful Oxford Hills region of western Maine, serving students within one of the state’s larger and more dynamic school districts. The area offers a classic New England small-town feel paired with year-round outdoor recreation, a supportive community, and easy access to both the mountains and the Maine coast. Located in and around South Paris and Norway, this region is known for its welcoming neighborhoods, vibrant local pride, and scenic landscapes. Lakes, rivers and rolling hills surround the school communities, creating excellent opportunities for hiking, kayaking, fishing, skiing and snowshoeing. Nearby recreation areas, ski destinations and trail networks provide four-season activities, while local shops, cafes, farmer’s markets and community events give the area a lively, close-knit atmosphere. It is a great setting for professionals who value work-life balance, nature, and a strong sense of community. The school district you will support is recognized as one of Maine’s larger, comprehensive systems, serving multiple towns with a wide range of programs. The district offers diverse academic and extracurricular opportunities and is committed to providing equitable, inclusive services to students across grade levels. Educators and related service providers describe a collaborative, student-centered culture where specialists are respected partners in decision-making. Contract clinicians often find the district to be organized, welcoming, and supportive of new team members. As a contract SLP, you will provide school-based speech and language services to students, with a caseload and building assignments determined according to district needs and your experience. You may work with students in early childhood, elementary, middle and/or high school settings, giving you exposure to a broad range of age groups and communication profiles. Depending on the assignment, you may work primarily in one school or travel between two or more buildings within the district. Caseloads are designed to be appropriate for a full-time school-based SLP, and you will have access to support from other district SLPs and special education leadership. The district uses electronic platforms for IEPs, scheduling and communication, and you will have access to school-based technology and materials. Therapy spaces are set up to support individual and group sessions, and you will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to evidence-based practice and student success. The environment is well-suited for SLPs interested in continuing to grow clinically, gaining experience across ages and needs, and contributing to a district that values collaboration and continuous improvement. This contract role follows the school calendar with generally predictable weekday hours, allowing you to enjoy evenings, weekends and school breaks in the Oxford Hills region.
