StartDate: 8/3/2026 Available Shifts: 7.5 D Pay Rate: $1818.00 - $1874.00

This Speech Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow position in Oneonta, Alabama offers an excellent opportunity to launch your SLP career in a friendly, close-knit community while receiving structured mentorship and guidance. You will work under the supervision of experienced SLPs who are committed to helping you successfully complete your Clinical Fellowship year, refine your clinical skills, and build confidence in independent practice. Depending on the specific setting, your typical day may include completing evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, providing one-on-one and small group therapy, documenting progress, collaborating with other professionals, and communicating regularly with families or caregivers. Caseloads are designed to be manageable for a Clinical Fellow, with support available for clinical questions, time management, and documentation. You may work with pediatric, adult, or mixed-age populations, and there may be opportunities to focus on areas such as language disorders, articulation/phonology, fluency, AAC, or cognitive-communication depending on the needs of the facility. Schedules generally follow consistent weekday hours, with the possibility of occasional flexibility depending on the practice or school calendar. You can expect a professional environment that values teamwork, open communication, and evidence-based practice. Clinical supervisors and colleagues will be available for case consultation, regular feedback, and assistance with meeting ASHA Clinical Fellowship requirements. Living in Oneonta, Alabama, you will enjoy the charm of a small Southern town with easy access to larger-city amenities. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Oneonta offers beautiful natural surroundings, tree-lined streets, and a welcoming community atmosphere. Outdoor enthusiasts appreciate the nearby hiking, fishing, and camping opportunities throughout Blount County, as well as scenic drives and local parks that are perfect for weekend relaxation. Oneonta’s historic downtown area features local shops, restaurants, and seasonal events that give you a true sense of community. You will find locally owned diners and cafes, boutiques, and small businesses that make it easy to get to know your neighbors. Community events, festivals, and sports activities provide plenty of chances to connect with others and feel at home quickly. The town’s schools and community organizations support a family-friendly environment, and the pace of life is comfortable and relaxed. Housing in and around Oneonta tends to be more affordable than in many larger metropolitan areas, making it appealing for early-career professionals. A range of options is typically available, from apartments and rental homes to single-family houses, often at prices that make it feasible to live comfortably while starting your career. The overall cost of living is generally lower than national averages, which can help your budget stretch further for leisure, savings, or student loan repayment. Oneonta is also within reasonable driving distance of Birmingham, giving you access to additional dining, cultural events, shopping, and entertainment without sacrificing the benefits of small-town living. This combination of a supportive clinical environment, community-centered lifestyle, and relative housing affordability makes this Clinical Fellow position a strong foundation for both your professional and personal growth.
