Occupational Therapist - Long-term Acute Care - (OT - Acute)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $2113.00 - $2177.00
Join a dedicated rehabilitation team as an Occupational Therapist in a long term acute care (LTAC) setting located in Dublin, Ohio. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for medically complex patients while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative, supportive environment. Dublin is a thriving, upscale suburb in the Columbus metropolitan area, known for its excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, and strong sense of community. The city offers an appealing balance of modern amenities and natural beauty, with miles of walking and biking trails, scenic river views, and well-maintained parks. The historic downtown district blends unique local shops and restaurants with a charming small-town feel, while the nearby Bridge Street District provides a walkable, contemporary urban core with dining, entertainment and boutique shopping. Dublin is also recognized for its festivals and events, including an iconic Irish-themed festival and a variety of family-friendly community activities throughout the year. With easy access to Columbus, you can enjoy major sports, arts, cultural attractions and a major university environment, all while living and working in a welcoming, suburban community. In this LTAC setting, you will care for adult patients who require an extended hospital-level stay to manage complex medical conditions. Typical patient populations may include individuals with respiratory failure, ventilator dependence, tracheostomies, complex wound care needs, multi-system organ dysfunction, neurologic impairments, and medically complex post-surgical cases. This setting gives you the opportunity to follow patients over a longer course of care than in traditional acute care, allowing you to see meaningful functional progress and partner closely with patients and families in their recovery journey. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that may include physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and speech therapists, dietitians, case managers, and social workers. The care model encourages frequent communication, joint care planning, and shared problem-solving. Occupational therapists play a key role in promoting functional independence, safe mobility, self-care, and cognitive engagement while also integrating medical stability and safety considerations. Typical responsibilities include: Comprehensive OT evaluations focusing on functional status, cognition, vision, upper extremity function, ADLs and IADLs, and safety Development and implementation of individualized treatment plans aligned with patient goals and interdisciplinary care plans Intervention in areas such as self-care training, energy conservation, positioning, early mobility, functional transfers, upper extremity strengthening and coordination, cognitive retraining, and adaptive equipment use Collaboration with nursing and respiratory therapy to integrate safe mobility and functional activity into the daily care routine, including for ventilator and tracheostomy patients Education and training for patients, families and caregivers regarding equipment, home modifications, and safe techniques to support discharge planning Participation in interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences to discuss progress, barriers and discharge needs Accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record consistent with hospital and regulatory requirements The therapy department emphasizes evidence-based practice and high-quality care. You can expect a manageable caseload that allows for meaningful patient interaction, with typical patient ratios designed to support safe and effective treatment. Schedules usually follow standard day shifts with some weekend or holiday rotation based on patient needs and department coverage. The environment supports clinical discussion, learning from colleagues, and developing confidence in managing complex medical cases. This role is ideal for an Occupational Therapist who values working closely with a medically fragile population, appreciates the ability to see functional gains over time, and thrives in an interdisciplinary, hospital-based rehabilitation environment. You will have the opportunity to grow professionally, refine specialized skills, and contribute to a culture of compassionate, patient-centered care.
