This Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, a dynamic and rapidly growing city that blends southern charm with cosmopolitan energy. As a PTA, you will provide skilled interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, helping patients regain function, improve mobility, and safely remain in their homes. Typical patients include adults and older adults recovering from surgery, stroke, cardiopulmonary events, orthopedic injuries, chronic conditions, and deconditioning. You will work with individuals and their caregivers to implement personalized treatment plans and home exercise programs that promote independence and reduce the risk of rehospitalization. A typical day in this role includes traveling between patients’ homes throughout the greater Atlanta area, performing comprehensive treatment sessions, and documenting care using an EMR system. Visit volume is designed to allow for thorough, high-quality care, with a focus on functional goals such as transfers, gait training, balance, and strength. You will collaborate closely with the supervising Physical Therapist and an interdisciplinary team to adjust plans of care, communicate changes in patient status, and coordinate services. Patient caseloads are primarily adult and geriatric, with opportunities to work with specialty populations depending on agency needs. Shifts are generally daytime hours on weekdays, with some flexibility to accommodate patient needs and your schedule. Weekend or holiday coverage may be requested on a limited basis depending on census and staffing. Autonomy is a key feature of this role: you will manage your daily schedule, prioritize visits, and adapt to varying home environments while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
