You will work within a digital imaging environment, utilizing advanced mammography and PACS systems to acquire, review, and transmit images for interpretation. Responsibilities include adhering to all FDA and mammography accreditation standards, performing quality control checks on mammography equipment, documenting procedures in the electronic medical record, and following radiation safety guidelines. You will collaborate with radiologists on diagnostic cases, additional views, and specialized imaging when needed. Depending on departmental workflow and your experience, you may assist with breast-related procedures such as image-guided interventions or pre-surgical localization, providing crucial support to the clinical team. Patient interaction is a central part of this position. You will provide clear instructions, respond to questions, and offer reassurance to patients, including those undergoing their first mammogram or those with a history of breast disease. Compassion and professionalism are vital, as many patients may arrive feeling anxious or worried. By combining technical expertise with empathetic care, you help ensure each patient has a positive experience while receiving high-quality imaging. Shifts are designed to support access to breast imaging services and may include daytime hours with potential early start times or periodic extended hours to accommodate patient schedules. Workload and patient volumes are managed to maintain a balanced environment that supports careful, thorough imaging while meeting departmental goals. Patient ratios and daily volumes are aligned with standards for mammography, allowing you to focus on meticulous positioning, image acquisition, and patient communication.
