Description

Job Summary:
The CT Technologist position is based in Neptune, New Jersey. This role involves performing computed tomography (CT) procedures and related techniques to produce sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation, as well as assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Performs complex CT procedures, utilizing professional judgment to review and obtain patient's clinical history, ensuring documentation is scanned into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of contrast questionnaires with patients or family members, and scans into the electronic health record system.
  • Identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, and reviews patient prescriptions to verify exam appropriateness, communicating with radiologists or referring physicians as needed.
  • Responsible for verifying insurance-authorized exam scripts and submitting exam modification forms for insurance re-verification.
  • Obtains outside studies (CDs) and schedules them in the electronic health record system, ensuring they are available in PACS for radiologist review.
  • Provides exam copies to patients and requesting physicians or family members.
  • Evaluates radiographs within PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic quality.
  • Uses consistent techniques to gather relevant information from medical records, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols and ensure patient safety.
  • Assesses patient readiness for procedures, prepares patients for scanning, and ensures proper shielding and immobilization devices are used.
  • Determines appropriate contrast type and dose, and provides clear explanations and instructions to patients at a level they understand.
  • Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
  • Monitors patients for adverse reactions during procedures and responds accordingly.
  • Works scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends, with additional overtime as needed for patient care continuity and on-call assignments per department policy.
  • Follows policies on employee identification, standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls at least 50 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
  • Modifies patient care based on the needs of diverse patient populations, communicating effectively at their developmental, educational, and literacy levels.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program, High School diploma or equivalent, NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJ DEP) Diagnostic Radiography License, ARRT Registered Technologist (Radiography) (R R) certification, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiological positioning, CT software and hardware, and PACS system.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in CT, with 5 years preferred.
  • Ability to achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire.
  • Maintaining Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months of CT experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems such as Epic and hospital information systems (HIS/RIS).
  • Trauma 1 center experience is desirable.

Schedule:
Wednesday through Saturday, 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM, totaling 4 shifts of 10 hours each per week, with a minimum of 40 hours weekly.
