Description

Job Summary:
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Pediatrics position available in Oakland, California. This role involves providing specialized speech therapy services to pediatric patients within a healthcare facility. The candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care according to established clinical protocols.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS and CCC-SLP; education requirements include a bachelor's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology; active California license in hand; minimum of 2 years of experience, including at least 1 year of hospital experience; clinical experience in acute care preferred
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in childrens hospitals, pediatric outpatient settings, pediatric rehabilitation facilities, and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU)
  • Skills: Acute care, alternative communication devices, assessment, augmentative communication, autism, bedside swallow evaluation, CELF, communication board, compensatory strategies, concurrent therapy documentation and treatment, modified barium swallow studies, developmental delays, discharge planning, evaluation, group therapy treatment and documentation, hearing impairments, hyolaryngeal exercises, dysphagia diet, interpreting modified barium swallow studies, language disorders, memory aids, neurodevelopmental disorders, modifying diet orders, oral motor, oral peripheral exam, Passy Muir valves, patient and family education, pediatric outpatient and rehabilitation settings, PICU, plan of care, Preschool Language Scale (PLS-4), reassessments, Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale, signs and symptoms of abuse, evaluation coding, suctioning, TBI, thickening agents, trach/vent, ventilator dependence/assistance, Western Aphasia Battery (WAB)
  • Additional Information: This position requires working with pediatric patients across different age groups, including adolescents and children with complex communication and swallowing needs. The role involves collaboration with physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit support staff. Candidates must be capable of floating to different departments or units as needed and have the flexibility to start earlier if approved.
