Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Pediatric (RT PEDS) specialty position in Newport News, Virginia. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to pediatric patients, including operating ventilatory equipment, performing procedures, and monitoring patient responses within a hospital setting. The Respiratory Therapist will work under minimal supervision to deliver high-quality patient care, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and collaborate with physicians.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in respiratory therapy, licensed as a Respiratory Therapist, graduation from an accredited program, valid state license in Virginia, 1 year of clinical experience in respiratory therapy
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric experience, proficiency with arterial puncture and advanced airway management, strong knowledge of pulmonary function testing, BLS and ACLS certification
  • Additional Information: The Respiratory Therapist will perform treatments such as ventilatory support, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, and airway management. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, conducting diagnostic tests, assisting with procedures like bronchoscopy and chest tube placement, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role involves communication with physicians regarding therapy effectiveness and adherence to hospital policies and protocols. The position entails self-testing and operation of ventilatory equipment, with routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
