Job Description:
The role involves providing emergency care to patients in a high acuity, fast-paced environment at a Level III trauma center. The department handles a variety of patient types, including pediatric, stroke, and cardiac cases, with a patient ratio of 1:3-5 based on acuity. The nurse will use Epic EMR system for documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Administer medications using barcode scanning and manage medication drips
- Perform blood product administration and triage duties upon passing the hospital's Triage Test
- Set up chest tubes, arterial lines, and assist in trauma and code cases
- Conduct splinting and manage bipap/ventilator setups
- Transfer and stabilize high acuity pediatric patients and manage behavioral health and substance use disorder cases
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a large volume ED with high acuity patients
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC
- Skills: pediatric emergency medicine experience, triage experience, Point of Care Labs experience is a plus
