Description
General Information
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Clinical Interview Unit. This unit accommodates a total of 56 beds and focuses on a diverse patient population with various diagnoses.
Patient Types
- Adults with diagnoses including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremors.
Patient Ratios
- PCU/Tele RN: 1:4 (Days and Nights)
- Med/Surg RN: 1:5 (Days and Nights)
- CNA: 1:8 (Days and Nights)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
Required Education
Completion of a nursing education program approved by a Board of Nursing.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience for RNs, with preference for those with greater than 1.5 years.
- Telemetry experience is required for RNs and LPNs.
- ICU RN qualifications may include floating to ED.
- PCU RN qualifications should include cardiac and vasoactive drip titration. Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, CIWA, drain/tube management, and insulin drips are essential.
- Strong clinical judgment and adaptability are required.
Team Nursing Approach
Our staffing model emphasizes collaboration, with RN and LPN pairs taking their own patient loads while being open to task-swapping as appropriate.
Orientation
- 2 days of in-class/online education
- 2 twelve-hour shifts with a preceptor
Scheduling
- Weekend rotation required: Every other weekend within a 4-week schedule
- Holiday commitment: Minimum of every other holiday during the contracted timeframe
Support on the Unit
- CNA support with a ratio of 1:8
- 24/7 availability of hospitalists and telemetry monitoring
- Resource Nurse available as staffing allows
Charting System/Equipment
- Epic (preferred)
- Alaris
- Omnicell
Floating Opportunities
RNs may float to adult inpatient units such as Med-Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, and ICU, based on experience.
Additional Information
- All travelers are required to attend pre-shift huddles.
- Precepting students may be expected.
- Audits on pre/post pain scoring must meet compliance standards.
