Description
General Information
We are seeking dedicated clinical nurses to join our team in a fast-paced environment. The facility includes 56 beds, focusing on a variety of adult patient diagnoses including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, and more. Our nursing team is integral to providing exceptional patient care.
Unit Information
- Patient Types: Adults with various diagnoses including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremors.
- Patient Ratios:
- Registered Nurse: PCU/Tele - 1:4 (Days/Nights), Med/Surg 1:5 (Days/Nights)
- CNA: 1:8 (Both Days/Nights)
Qualifications
- Registered Nurses (RN): Minimum of 1 year experience (Telemetry experience preferred). Must hold a BLS and ACLS certification.
- Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN): Minimum of 1 year experience, with acute care Telemetry background required. BLS required; ACLS preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA): Certification required; acute care experience preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
All nursing positions require strong clinical judgment, effective verbal and written communication, a professional bedside manner, and a collaborative team approach.
- For RNs: Skills in cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, CIWA protocols, tube management, insulin drips, and chest tube maintenance. Ability to float to ICU or other designated areas may be necessary based on expertise.
- For LPNs: Must have skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, tube management, insulin drips, and wound care. Familiarity with South Dakota LPN Scope of Practice is essential.
- For CNAs: Must demonstrate strong teamwork, adaptability, and an effective bedside manner.
Support on the Unit
- CNA support (1:8 ratio)
- Resource Nurse on the unit, assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers
- 24/7 access to phlebotomy services for peripheral blood draws
Orientation and Scheduling
Orientation consists of 2 days of in-class/online education followed by 2 shifts with a preceptor. Weekend rotations will be expected, as well as holiday coverage every other holiday during the contracted timeframe.
Additional Information
All travelers must attend a huddle prior to each shift and may be expected to precept students. Monthly audits will be conducted for Pre/Post Pain Scoring to ensure compliance.
