Unit Information
The Progressive Care Unit offers 44 beds and is staffed by a dedicated team of 95 professionals.
Staffing Details
- Day Shift: 2 CNC/Charge, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC
- Night Shift: 2 CNC/Charge, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC
Patient Care Ratios
- 4 patients per RN at grid
- 5 patients per RN during stretched conditions
Equipment Utilized
- IV pumps
- Skylift
- PCA pump
- Chest tubes
- Trachs
- Patient lifts
Electronic Medical Records
The unit uses Cerner for electronic medical records management.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Experience in Neuro and Trauma Care
Preferred Skills
- Additional experience in Neuro and Trauma Care is preferred.
Typical Procedures Performed
- Neuro and spinal assessments
- C-Collar placement and TLSO braces
- Chest tube management and PCA pump administration
- IV infusions
- Lumbar drain procedures
- Feeding tube placements
- Blood transfusions
Personality Fit
Ideal candidates should be team players with a patient-focused approach to care.
Floating Areas
Potential to float to stepdown units and med-surg units as needed.
Dress Code
Scrub color required: Navy blue.
Weekend and On-Call Requirements
Every other weekend commitment is expected.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience is required.
