Position Description
General Information
The position is located in the Emergency Department of a facility in Asheville, NC. The unit has a total of 101 beds and accommodates a variety of medical cases.
Unit Specifics
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
- Staffing Description: Support from Techs, Unit Clerks, and a dedicated internal processing team
- Equipment Used: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
Scheduling Requirements
Candidates must be available to work every other weekend. The schedule is designed to meet departmental needs, and block scheduling is not guaranteed. Flexibility to float to all sections of the Emergency Department is required.
Patient Experience Requirements
- Engagement through AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You)
- Consistent communication regarding patient information throughout the visit
- Maintaining respectful and sensitive interactions with patients
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire
Hiring Profile
Preferred candidates should possess:
- At least 2 years of nursing experience, including 1 year in an Emergency Room setting
- Experience in a Level 2 trauma center or a high-volume Emergency Department with over 100,000 visits
- A teamwork-oriented mentality and the ability to provide real-time coaching and feedback
Advanced Skills
Candidates must be proficient in various advanced nursing procedures and patient care protocols specific to the Emergency Department.
Dress Code
Navy scrubs are required as part of the professional attire.
