ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

• Unit Name: MICU
• Number of Beds: 31
• Patient Ratios: 2:1, sometimes 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity/staffing
• Unit Staffing: Unit secretary staffed during dayshift; occasional nurse extern working as a tech.
• Type of Equipment: Ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, EV 1000
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule; schedule is done in 4-week increments with self-scheduling options. Manager may adjust shifts to balance the schedule.
• Floating Policy: Contract labor is the first to float. If the staffing need is in med/surg, contract labor is expected to float to med/surg and take the assignment.
• Patient Experience Requirements: Expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• ICU experience

Advanced Skills Needed

Procedures performed on the unit include:

• Insertion of central lines
• Insertion of arterial lines
• Lumbar punctures
• Chest tube insertions
• EVD insertions

Dress Code

Required uniform: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
