Unit Information
Join a dynamic neuro telemetry unit with 32 beds, offering innovative care in a fast-paced environment. You will be working with patients with a variety of diagnoses, including trached patients, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurological conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to neuro telemetry patients.
- Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications, including titrated drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin.
- Complete SIMs Lab skills assessment for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
- Maintain compliance with sterile field procedures and safety standards.
- Assist with lifts, restraints, and wound care, adapting to facility-specific equipment and policies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families.
Qualifications
- Active RN license required.
- Minimum of 18 months of nursing experience, with Level 1 trauma experience strongly preferred.
- Neuro experience highly preferred.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS.
- Ability to interpret EKGs and handle central monitoring.
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:4.
- Natural hair color and no facial piercings are required; men must be clean shaven for fit testing.
Work Schedule
Full-time positions available with 12-hour night shifts. The schedule includes a requirement of 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks, with holidays assigned based on unit coverage.
Additional Information
- Floating to Med/Tele units may be required.
- Orientation includes 2 days on the floor, focusing on specific unit protocols.
- Cancellations may occur, with the possibility of up to 4 shifts cancelled during a 13-week assignment.
- Support from SWAT RNs available for difficult IV access.
- Charting via Cerner electronic medical records.
