Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for a travel assignment. This role requires a dedicated and skilled nursing professional to provide high-quality care to patients.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Ratios: 5:1
• Type of Equipment: Tele monitoring, post-operative monitoring
• EMR: Meditech / CPN

Shift Information

This position is for the night shift, with a standard schedule of 7 PM to 7 AM. The night shift team typically includes:

• 1 Charge Nurse
• 4-5 RNs
• 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)

Qualifications

• Required Skills:
  • Minimum 1-year current acute care hospital PCU experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Preferred Skills:
  • Cardiac experience
  • Prior Meditech experience
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification

Typical Procedures

The Progressive Care Unit is responsible for:

• Post-operative recovery of surgical patients and cath lab patients
• Post-operative orthopedic patients (spine, joint)
• Patients undergoing elective Cath lab procedures (post PCI, post pacemaker, ablation, cardioversion, re-vascularization)
• Management of stroke, CIWA, chest pain, renal failure, and respiratory failure patients

• In-room Hoyer lifts (x2)

Ideal candidates will possess a friendly, outgoing personality and display strong multi-tasking abilities, especially during high patient turnover days with increased discharges and admissions. A modified self-scheduling process allows for flexibility, with schedules released three weeks in advance.
