Position Description

This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a cardiac telemetry unit. The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including the administration of medications, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with healthcare team members to deliver optimal patient outcomes.

General Information

• Unit Name: 4 North Cardiac Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 29
• Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Staffing Composition: Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Scheduling Requirements: Must work full-time, including three weekend shifts per scheduling period
• Floating Policy: Nurses may be required to float to areas where competency has been demonstrated

Qualifications

• Required Experience: Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience, including the ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
• Advanced Skills Needed: Experience with post-cardiac procedural care, including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-operative day 1 open heart care, and permanent pacemaker placements.
• Medication Administration: Must be competent in administering and titrating IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.
• Procedures Performed: IV insertions, nasogastric tube placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemakers, and Foley catheter insertions.
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.

Dress Code

Employees are required to wear navy blue scrubs; black scrub pants may be worn with a navy blue top.
