Position Overview

This position involves working in a fast-paced Cardiac Telemetry unit, providing care and support to patients with cardiac conditions. The unit comprises 29 beds, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4.

Unit Information

• Unit Name: 4 North Cardiac Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 29
• Staffing Description: Includes Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs).
• Patient Equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, vital sign monitors, EKG machines, and various diagnostic tools.
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: Must work full-time hours including three weekend shifts per scheduling period.
• Floating Policy: Floating to other areas based on demonstrated competency is required.

Patient Experience Expectations

The successful candidate must align with patient experience goals by treating all patients with courtesy and respect, actively responding to patient needs, and engaging patients in their care process.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience is essential, along with the ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
• Advanced Skills: Experience in post-cardiac procedural care, including Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 Open Heart, and permanent Pacemaker placements.
• Medication Administration: Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.
• Procedures: Knowledge of IV insertions, NGT placement, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemakers, and Foley insertions.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification are mandatory.

Dress Code

Uniform consists of navy blue scrubs. Black scrub pants may be worn with a navy blue top.
