Description
Overview
This is a 15-week contracted position for a qualified Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Technologist in a Level II pediatric trauma center. The role focuses on pediatric congenital diagnostic and interventional procedures, with special emphasis on collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pediatric cath lab required.
- Required licenses and certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) and/or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Current Washington State Rad Tech and/or CISC (Certified Interventional Radiology Specialist) license
- No first-time travelers will be accepted.
Patient Care Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include caring for pediatric patients with a variety of congenital heart conditions. Common procedures may involve:
- Diagnostic and interventional catheterizations including LHC (Left Heart Catheterization) and RHC (Right Heart Catheterization)
- PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus), VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect), ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) closures
- Septostomy and congenital structure stenting/ballooning
- Collateral closure procedures
- Pediatric electrophysiology tasks such as pacemaker implant/generator exchanges, loop recorder implant/removals, and EP studies with radiofrequency ablations
Technical Skills
- Experience as a circulator and in patient monitoring (sedation management provided by Anesthesia)
- Preferred monitoring experience with PACS (Picom), hemodynamic systems (Merge), and C-arm (Siemens Artis)
- Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically EPIC Cupid, is preferred.
Work Schedule
- Weekend rotation will require being on call for 1-2 weekends per month (anticipated every third week).
- Call schedule includes 7 shifts in a 3-week rotation; weekday call from end of service to 7:00 AM the following day, and weekend call from end of service Friday to 7:00 AM Monday.
- Response time for call is 45 minutes, and no sleep room is available.
- Holidays will require being on call as part of the department's rotation.
Additional Information
Scrubs will be provided by the institution, including lead aprons; however, extended sizing for lead may not be available.
