General Information

This position is for a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) within a specialized ICU setting. The role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Specifics

• Scrub Color: All Navy or Navy and White
• Number of Beds: 16
• Patient Ratios: 2:1 or 1:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
• Unit Staffing Description: RNs only – no support staff such as HUC or PCT
• Type of Equipment: Ventilators, Telemetry, Baxter IV Pump, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Impella, Hypothermia Units
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling Requirements: 36 hours per week, alternating weekends, 12-hour shifts
• Floating Policy: Travelers float to all areas as needed

Patient Experience Requirements

ICU experience is required for this position.

Qualifications

Requested Skill Set

• Titration of Vesicant Medications
• Familiarity with Pressors, Sedation, and Paralytics
• Experience with Ventilators and Trach Care
• Telemetry Interpretation
• Understanding of Hemodynamics and PA Catheter Setup
• Transvenous Pacing and Cardioversion
• Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
• Chest Tube Insertions and Maintenance

Advanced Skills (Desirable)

• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• Impella
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Cardioversion
• Central Line Insertion
• Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
• Bronchoscopy
• Chest Tube Insertions
• Pericardiocentesis
• Thoracentesis

General Requirements

• Certifications: None required; CCRN is recommended
• Dress Code: Adhere to stated uniform colors; no pullovers or hoodies, green scrubs allowed only when uniform is soiled
