Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients in the emergency room.
- Assess and monitor patients' conditions and respond to their needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Assist in the management of various medical emergencies and trauma cases.
- Administer medications and perform medical procedures as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Work Environment
This position is located in a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The Emergency Room is designed to handle a variety of cases, with an average of 100 patients treated per day.
Nurses will be required to float throughout the designated zone, covering a 60-mile radius from the city center. Housing arrangements must facilitate this requirement.
Shift Details
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Schedule: Nights, with every other weekend and holiday commitment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an emergency room setting.
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Experience with common diagnoses such as abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension is preferred.
Support Staff
The emergency room is supported by nursing aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters, who assist with various duties including unit secretary tasks, triage support, and patient care assistance.
Additional Information
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 within the ER, handling breathing treatments and ABGs. Nurses may perform point-of-care laboratory testing as needed.
