Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our Family Birthing Center team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for maternal and neonatal care and will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to expectant mothers and their newborns.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Current Bed Capacity: 2 OBED beds, 7 LDRP beds, and 4-8 overflow postpartum beds
• Monthly Births: 70-80

Shift Details

• Shift: 12-hour Nights
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Floating Requirements: May float to other facilities within the region

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for laboring patients, including monitoring fetal heart rates and maternal well-being
• Assist with deliveries and perform necessary interventions as per established protocols
• Support postpartum care for mothers and infants, ensuring a smooth transition after delivery
• Titrate medications, such as Pitocin and insulin, as required
• Manage high-risk deliveries and stabilize newborns in the neonatal area when required
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, including OB providers and anesthesia personnel, to deliver optimal patient care

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience; preferred 3 years of LDRP experience
• Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), Basic Life Support (BLS, AHA), Advanced Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Must be comfortable with NRP during delivery

Additional Information

• On-site anesthesia is available on-call, with a 20-minute response time when needed
• Respiratory Therapy is present for every delivery and assists with equipment needs
• Charge Nurse or Nurse Shift Manager is available on every shift, primarily without an assignment unless staffing requires it
