Travel RN Opportunity – Telemetry Unit

Location: Mercy Hospital Springfield, Springfield, Missouri
Hospital System: Mercy Health
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)

Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry Specialty
  • Unit: Medical 7B (32 beds)
  • Patient Population: Medical or medical telemetry patients, including those with developmental delays
  • Patient Ratios: Vary by shift (Days 1:5-1:6, Nights 1:6-1:7), not guaranteed
  • Float: Rotational basis within the facility
  • Call Requirements: None

Requirements

  • Licensure: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (American Heart Association) required
    • NIHSS certification required prior to start (can be submitted after application)
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year inpatient telemetry experience
  • Skills: Must have experience in inpatient telemetry nursing

Unit & Work Environment

  • Equipment: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Dress Code: Black scrubs only
  • Work Conditions:
    • Frequent standing and walking
    • Physical demands include bending, stooping, lifting, turning patients (up to 50 lbs), pushing, pulling, gripping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as needed
    • Exposure to blood and body fluids
    • Flexible scheduling with possible weekend hours as required by facility

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • Uphold professional accountability and Mercy Health’s mission, values, and service standards
  • Care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities

Additional Notes

  • Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no exceptions)
  • Flexible guaranteed hours and blocked scheduling may be approved but must be indicated on submission
  • Requests for time off (RTO) must be made after the first week of assignment; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
