Travel RN – Cardiac Medical ICU

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Cardiac Medical ICU
• Shift: Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be indicated on submission)
• Number of Openings: 3
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
• Call Requirements: None
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Licensure & Certifications

• Current RN License eligible or active in Missouri
• Required: BLS, ACLS (AHA only), NIHSS
• Preferred: TNCC

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years in Cardiac and/or Medical ICU
• 3+ years CVI experience recovering open hearts directly from the OR
• Must have at least 2 years inpatient Cardiac Medical ICU experience
• Preferred experience with medical ICU patients with cardiac emphasis (arrhythmias, STEMI, post arrest)

• Unit: Cardiac Medical ICU
• Beds: 22
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Equipment: Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, Arctic Sun
• EMR: EPIC
• Patient Types: Sepsis, respiratory conditions (pneumonia, COVID, ARDS), post cardiac arrest, GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, overdose, suicidal ideations, CIWA

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Float to other stepdown units as needed
• Maintain professional accountability and adhere to facility mission, values, and standards

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• May work varying schedules and shifts based on patient care needs
• Exposure to blood and body fluids
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, crawling

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Black only
• No hats, non-facility jackets/sweatshirts, or AirPods allowed

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel period Nov 1 - Apr 1 (no declinations accepted)
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
• Facility expects excellence and accountability from staff
