Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse
- Facility: Acute care hospital setting
Required Credentials & Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
- Nursys Verification - Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require additional documentation
- Current Nursing License - Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Ascension Specialty Exam - Completed prior to first assignment; updated every 3 years; minimum 80% passing score; max 2 attempts
- Ascension Core Competencies - Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% passing score
- NIH Certification - Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years
- Ascension EKG Exam - Completed prior to start; passing score of at least 80%; max 2 attempts
- CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course completed prior to start
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding - Completed onsite prior to assignment
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation - Completed prior to assignment
- Ascension Nova StatStrip - Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions completed prior to clearance
Personal Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
- Fit Test - Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually
- Hepatitis B - Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine - Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Positive PPD / Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire - Proof of positive IGRA or PPD, chest x-ray within one year, and completed TB questionnaire; updated annually
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) - Required within 1 year and 30 days of start
- Varicella - Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted
- Tdap - Valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Health Statement - Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually
Professional & Compliance Requirements
- Driver's License/State ID - Must be current and valid; address must match licensing requirements
- Ascension Profile (Resume) - Required for submission
- Two Professional References - Required prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check - Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; completed within 30 days of assignment and updated annually
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) Check - Completed within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Ascension Skills Checklist - Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen - Completed within 30 days prior to start; includes testing for 12 specified substances; includes MRO review
- Education Verification - Verification of clinical education within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Confirmation of Assignment - Provided upon initial assignment and updated with extensions
- Employment Verification - Third-party verification for past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
Additional Notes
- Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background required for badge photo
- Some onboarding checklists and attestations must be completed and uploaded prior to or at start
- On-site portion of CPI/MOAB High Risk training completed at orientation
- Post-assignment evaluations and legal documentation (e.g., name change) may be required but are optional for onboarding
