Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: December 8 (Non-negotiable)
Shift Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
Holiday Requirement: Must work 1 of 2 holidays


Position Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) needed for a long-term assignment in Nashville, TN. This role requires flexibility in shift hours and holiday coverage.


Required Credentials & Certifications

Licenses & Verification (Must be current and verified within 30 days prior to start)

  • Nursing license verification via Nursys
  • Current license and primary source verification
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must not be expired and address must match requirements)

Certifications (Must be AHA approved where specified)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years)

Health & Immunizations (Must be completed prior to or at onboarding)

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be done onsite
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Recent testing required; if positive, chest X-ray and TB questionnaire needed
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended)
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Testing & Competencies (Must be completed prior to or at onboarding)

  • Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of 80%, max 2 attempts; updated exam version as of Dec 1, 2023
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist, updated annually for specialty
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually; includes 12 specified drugs with MRO review if applicable

Onboarding Requirements

  • Ascension Resume/Profile submission
  • Two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal background check including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, and national sex offender registry (updated annually or after break in service)
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start)
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions
  • Employment verification for past 7 years (updated annually or after break in service)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6-hour pre-hire training)
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules (required for non-allied positions)
  • Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations or filters

Optional

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (uploaded by unit leader within a week)
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment)
  • Legal documentation of name change (if applicable)
