    Job Description

    As a Clinical Nurse (RN) in Critical Care, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality nursing care aligned with the Department of Nursing’s philosophy and goals. Your role includes:

    • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring and Relationship Based Care.
    • Monitoring patient progress and collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and recovery.
    • Providing care tailored to patients’ physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs.
    • Applying scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in nursing practice.
    • Developing and modifying nursing care plans based on ongoing patient assessments.
    • Performing essential nursing skills, educating patients and families on health treatments and care.
    • Demonstrating safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
    • Delegating tasks appropriately and supervising care team members.
    • Advocating for patients’ rights and informed decision-making.
    • Delivering culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards.
    • Coordinating patient care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary staff.

    Contract Length

    • 8 weeks

    • Utilize effective communication skills for safe patient handoffs.
    • Document nursing care according to hospital policies.
    • Use manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency and productivity.
    • Be accountable for patient satisfaction and contribute positively to patient care experiences.
    • Assist in resolving complaints promptly and investigate concerns as needed.
    • Perform all physical duties of the job, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
    • Complete annual organizational requirements for employment.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 3 years acute care experience required.
    • Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing.
    • Associate Degree or BSN accepted.
    • Required certifications/licenses:
      • California RN License
      • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
      • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
      • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

    This position is ideal for experienced critical care nurses seeking a travel assignment in California.
