Location: Wichita, Kansas

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Unit in Wichita, Kansas. This is a long-term assignment lasting approximately 13 weeks.


Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

  • Nursys Verification: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start.
  • Current Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • BLS (AHA): Required prior to onboarding.
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
  • MOAB Moderate Risk (De-Escalation Training): Required prior to onboarding.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite. Annual update required.
  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer required; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.

Professional Requirements

  • Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
  • Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender check; updated annually or after breaks in service.
  • Employment Verification: Past 7 years required; updated annually or after breaks in service.
  • Education Verification: Relevant clinical education verified within 90 days of start; updated after breaks in service.
  • Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current and match address on file.
  • Onboarding Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire modules and attestations required.
  • Onsite Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Required.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip Pre-Hire Modules: Required for non-allied positions.
  • Cerner Test-Out: Passing test results and training checklist required.
  • Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.

Health & Testing Requirements

  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter. Retesting required after breaks in service.
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • Positive PPD / Negative Chest X-Ray & TB Questionnaire: Required if applicable; TB questionnaire updated annually.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required prior to start; annual updates required.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.

Additional Notes

  • Some checklists and tests allow only two attempts with a minimum passing score of 80%.
  • Extensions may require updates to certain certifications or tests.
  • Optional documents include unit-specific checklists and post-assignment evaluations.

This position requires thorough credentialing and compliance with Ascension Health’s onboarding standards to ensure patient safety and regulatory adherence.
