Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position in the Emergency Room specialty.
- Travel assignment in a hospital setting.
Required Credentials and Certifications
Certifications (Must be AHA unless otherwise noted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly for Group A, every 2 years for Groups B-F)
- CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and De-escalation training)
Licenses and Verifications
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- License/Certificate Verification (updated within 30 days prior to start)
- Driver's License/State ID (must be current and valid)
Testing and Checklists
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out (test results and signed attestation required)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated as per latest edition)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire (preferred; optional)
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within 1 year and 30 days of start
- Fit Test: Required for respiratory protection, updated annually
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
Background and Employment Verification
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (completed within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start
- Education Verification (within 90 days prior to start)
- Employment Verification (third-party verification for past 7 years, updated annually)
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
Additional Information
- Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background required for badge photo
- Some onboarding and training must be completed prior to or at the start of assignment
- Certain checklists and attestations must be uploaded or completed as part of onboarding
- On-site portion of CPI/MOAB High Risk training to be completed at orientation (optional)
This position requires thorough compliance with Ascension Health’s credentialing, testing, and health requirements to ensure readiness and safety in the Emergency Room environment.
