Travel RN - Cardiac Stepdown

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown
• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
• Call Requirements: None
• Number of Openings: 2
• Float Requirements: As needed to similar or lower acuity units

Licensure & Certifications

• Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
• Required: BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
• Preferred: NIHSS

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in Cardiac Stepdown, inpatient only
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Unit Information

• 32 beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 to 1:4
• Equipment: Chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, BiPAPs
• EMR system: EPIC
• Patient types: Post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, chest pain

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Adhere to Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
• Physical demands include standing/walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting/turning patients with assistance, and exposure to blood/body fluids
• Must be a team player and promote a positive culture

Dress Code

• Scrubs: All black with facility logo on top
• Prohibited attire: Hoodies, jackets without logo, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, fake nails

Orientation & Scheduling Notes

• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
• Flexible guaranteed hours (36 or 48) must be indicated on submission
• Blocked scheduling may be approved based on facility needs
• Return to work (RTO) policy: 5 days or less, must make up the week on the back end
• Holiday RTO: One per assignment allowed

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Frequent standing and walking
• Bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, crawling
• Exposure to high-risk blood and body fluids

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of cardiac stepdown inpatient experience seeking a travel assignment on night shift in a well-equipped, specialty-focused unit.
