Registered Nurse – RN GI Lab / Endoscopy
Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to a designated group of patients, assuming responsibility and accountability for their care during the assignment. Care is delivered through the nursing process, collaboration with healthcare team members, and adherence to established standards and core nursing values.
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Process
- Perform ongoing, systematic patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status.
- Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses.
- Identify individualized expected patient outcomes.
- Develop and prioritize goal-directed plans of care based on diagnoses and outcomes.
- Identify and address patient and family learning needs.
- Implement nursing care skillfully and consistently.
- Document care accurately and timely in patient records.
- Evaluate effectiveness of care and adjust plans as needed.
Professional Performance
- Maintain awareness and application of safety protocols.
- Respond efficiently and calmly in emergency situations following protocols.
- Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and decision-making for patient population.
- Follow all institutional, nursing division, and unit-specific policies and procedures.
- Incorporate hourly rounding into daily practice.
- Take accountability for professional practice and legal aspects of care.
- Participate actively in staff development and education.
- Foster effective working relationships with healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Maintain flexibility in staffing and conflict resolution.

Required Credentials & Compliance
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid State Nursing License (verification within 30 days prior to start).
- BLS (American Heart Association).
- ACLS (American Heart Association).
Health & Safety Requirements
- COVID-19 Vaccine (optional, proof or declination).
- MMR: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; titers must be documented.
- Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; documentation required.
- Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or facility-specific declination form.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required or facility-specific declination with mask-wearing.
- Tdap: Preferred within last 10 years; declination form if not available.
- TB Test: Must have recent testing (PPD or Quantiferon) per annual requirements; follow-up for positives as needed.
- Fit Test: Annual fit test for approved respirator models prior to start.
- Physical/Health Statement: Within last 12 months, including vitals and physician clearance with no restrictions.
Professional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific skills checklist for assigned unit (updated annually).
- Passing score (80% or higher) on Core Competency Exams relevant to nursing role.
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (unexpired).
- Background Check: Comprehensive checks including criminal, address trace, and national databases within 30 days of start.
- Drug Screen: Within 30 days of start; specific drug panel excluding marijuana per state regulations.
- Submission of a detailed resume covering last 7 years of employment and education.
- Two professional references (one within last 12 months, one within last 3 years).
- Signed job description and employment verification from most recent employer.
- Completion of facility-required forms including code of conduct, sexual harassment acknowledgement, and other onboarding documentation.
- Color headshot photo for identification purposes.
Additional Notes
- All documentation and credential verifications must be completed and submitted as required prior to onboarding.
- Compliance with facility policies and participation in ongoing education and competency assessments are mandatory.
- Flexibility and professionalism in staffing and patient care are essential.
