Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Sacramento, California
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- California RN license
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only)
- Minimum 3 years experience in Open Heart surgery
- Preferred: Pediatric Cardiovascular (CV) and Vascular Hybrid experience
- On-call required:
- 4 call teams, averaging 3 days of call per week and 1-2 weekends per month
- Weekend call typically from Friday 3:00 PM to Monday 6:30 AM
- Shift times for call teams:
- CV1: 3:00 PM - 6:30 AM
- CV2: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- Pediatrics: 3:00 PM - 6:30 AM (Mon, Tues, Thurs)
- Hybrid: 3:00 PM - 6:30 AM
- Weekend call teams: CV and Hybrid
- Block scheduling may be approved upon discussion during interview
Required Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and international search if applicable
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks such as OFAC, OIG, SAM)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
- Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Transcript/Diploma verification if education verification unsuccessful
- State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List search if FACIS III cannot be run
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
- CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and other certifications as required by position
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG and unit-specific tests as applicable
- State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- IV Certification for applicable roles
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions and facial hair)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination signed
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Color Blind Exam (in-person, if applicable)
- Respiratory Safety clearance, renewed annually (not required for some roles)
Facility-Specific Documents & Compliance
- Review and sign facility job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- Complete conditional offer of employment attestation
- Religious accommodation forms for PAPR or vaccine exemptions as applicable
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Epic questionnaire for RNs starting 11/3/2025 and onward
Employment History & References
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps, including city and state of employment
- Verification of up to 7 years of employment history required
- 2 professional references required for clinical, allied, per diem acute care roles; 1 reference for per diem non-acute care
Additional Notes
- On-call schedule and block scheduling options to be discussed during interview
- Some certifications and competencies require verification with the hiring manager or clinical lead
- Religious exemptions and medical exemptions for immunizations require completion of specific facility forms and approval
