Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Burlingame, California
Unit: ICU Float (float to ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, Med Surg)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Float to all inpatient units: ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, Med Surg
- Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend
- No on-call requirement
Requirements
- California RN License
- Minimum 4 years of nursing experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- ACLS (AHA or ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Additional certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., CCRN, TNCC, PALS, NRP, EFM, CPI)
- Must be able to float across multiple units
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including:
- Social Security Trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Sex Offender Search (within 90 days of start)
- Education Verification (highest level achieved; BSN preferred)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Transcript/Diploma verification as needed
- Pending background check attestation not accepted for this facility (no conditional clearances)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person only)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units
- ICU nurses may be required to take EKG exam onsite after start
Documentation & Compliance
- Photo for badge (passport-style) required
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including:
- Job description
- Standards of Business Conduct
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Code of Conduct
- Vendor Training
- Overpayment Refund Policy
- Regulatory Orientation
- TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
- Work history verification for up to 7 years required
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not facility)
Notes
- Religious exemptions for vaccines and PAPR use require approval and specific documentation
- Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures may require PAPR training
- Candidates must complete all required background checks, certifications, health screenings, and documentation prior to start
