    Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Burlingame, California

    Job Details

    • Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend
    • Unit: ICU Float - must float to ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, and Med Surg inpatient units
    • On-call: No on-call requirement

    Requirements

    • California RN Licensure
    • Minimum 4 years of nursing experience
    • Certifications:
      • BLS (AHA or ARC)
      • ACLS (AHA or ARC)
      • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
    • Ability to float across ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, and Med Surg units

    Certifications & Competencies

    • Basic Life Support (BLS): AHA or ARC only
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): AHA or ARC only
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS): Valid for 1-2 years; verify by position
    • Critical Care RN (CCRN): Verify by position
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Valid for 4 years; verify by position
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Typically required for Labor & Delivery; verify by position
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Instructor or Advanced Provider Course required for NICU; Essential Provider acceptable for L&D
    • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI): Verify by position
    • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
    • Competency Exams: Minimum passing score 80% or higher as required
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: May be required for some telemetry units

    Licensure & Verification

    • California RN License: Primary source verification within 30 days of start
    • NURSYS Verification (RN): Required within 30 days of start
    • Education Verification: Highest level achieved must be verified (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
    • Transcript/Diploma: Required if education verification unsuccessful
    • State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List Search (if FACIS III cannot be run)

    Background Checks

    • 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including:
      • Social Security Trace with all aliases
      • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
      • Nationwide Sex Offender Search (within 90 days of start)
      • Education verification
      • FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
      • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated annually)
      • OFAC Sanctions List Search (if FACIS III cannot be run)
    • Pending background check attestation not accepted for this facility; no conditional clearances allowed

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start; must state "cleared for work" or equivalent
    • Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year, renewed annually; specific mask types accepted; PAPR training if fit test failed
    • Immunizations:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster in last 10 years
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray: Within 90 days of start; annual renewal required
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IGG titer or vaccination series; boosters required if no prior records
      • Hepatitis B: Series or signed declination; must complete series if started
      • Varicella: Positive IGG titer or vaccination series; boosters required if no prior records
      • Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30); declination accepted with mask requirement
    • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months; marijuana excluded per CA law effective 1/1/24
    • Color Blind Exam: In-person exam required if applicable
    • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required prior to start; renewed annually

    • 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates (within 3 years)
    • 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care candidates

    This position requires a highly experienced ICU float RN with multiple certifications and the ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and facility-specific documentation is mandatory.
