Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years recent medical/surgical experience required
- Must have Epic electronic health record experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable) - required at submission
- ACLS (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable) - required at submission
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required before start
- Licensure:
- Valid nursing license verified through primary source within 30 days of start
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start
- Uniform:
- Solid black scrubs required
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
Submission & Onboarding Requirements
Health & Immunizations (Required prior to or at onboarding)
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Fully vaccinated (2 doses if applicable); exemptions reviewed case-by-case
- MMR: Titer or 2 adult vaccines; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Titer or proof of 3-series vaccine; signed declinations accepted
- Influenza Vaccine: Required October-April; medical/religious exemptions require approval
- Tuberculosis Testing:
- 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) negative results required
- Annual TB questionnaire (Summa form) completed, signed, and dated
- If positive PPD, chest x-ray within 1 year required
- Varicella: Titer or 2 adult vaccines; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Within 10 years of start; optional but recommended
- Fit Test: Required for all patient-facing roles; must be current within 1 year
Drug Screening & Background Checks
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search plus SSN trace, nationwide checks) within 90 days of start
- OIG, EPLS, and other federal exclusion checks within 90 days of start
Professional Documentation
- Education verification via third party
- Social Security card or number confirmation
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Work order confirmation form completed by agency upon offer acceptance
Competency & Skills Testing (Required prior to or at onboarding)
- Unit-specific competency exam with passing score required annually
- Unit-specific skills checklist completed annually
- EKG and Telemetry exams with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Float pool availability required (float required)
- Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at submission, max 7 days allowed
- No block schedule preferences accepted (candidates requesting block schedules will be rejected)
Important Notes
- Candidates must submit a complete RN submission packet checklist signed by both candidate and agency
- Pre-employment physical required within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Continuous assignments with no breaks do not require annual updates of physical or some certifications
- All documentation must be current and compliant with facility and agency policies
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg RNs with recent Epic experience seeking a long-term assignment in a hospital setting with strict compliance and credentialing standards.
