Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Richmond, Virginia

Job Description
- Provide direct patient care to inpatients at the acute level within the patient’s home environment (Hospital at Home model).
- Follow individualized plans of care for home visits.
- Implement nursing process through a team nursing model using leveraged technology and remote clinical care coordination.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver therapeutic interventions while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
- Work rotating 12-hour shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM and 11 AM - 11 PM.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in critical care, acute care, or medical-surgical nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Valid Virginia or compact nursing license required at time of submission.
- Mileage reimbursement at IRS rate.
Certifications & Licenses
- Permanent RN license (no temporary licenses accepted).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (if applicable).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) (if applicable).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) (if applicable).
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
- State license verification required.
Background & Compliance Checks
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including:
- All states lived/worked in past 7 years
- State of permanent residence
- VA Statewide Repository Search
- Sex offender registry
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Fingerprinting required for certain units (Pediatrics, NICU, Psych, etc.) with specific Virginia State Police process.
- Education verification from accredited nursing program (NLN or CCNE).
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Tdap vaccine required (declination accepted with handwritten signature).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per guidelines (Q-gold/T-spot or PPD).
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella; boosters required if low titers.
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Drug testing within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant screens not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for the 2025-26 season.
Competencies & Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable).
- Color Blind Testing (required).
- Abuse Reporting Competency covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation of elderly or incapacitated adults.
- Competency exams specific to specialty (e.g., Sonography).
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation includes pharmacology exam, point of care testing, airborne precaution mask fitting, and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for ICU/step-down units.
- Completion of assigned learning modules (~6 hours) during orientation week.
- Candidates must bring mask (cloth acceptable), non-wireless headphones, and laptop or cell phone (notify if not available).
Documentation & History
- Two professional references required.
- Complete application/resume required.
- Annual skills checklist required.
- Performance evaluations completed at end of assignment (not required prior to start).
Additional Notes
- Candidates must comply with Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search and submission process within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Fingerprinting and CPS documentation must be submitted timely; candidates may start with results pending if proof of submission is on file.
- No onsite certification renewals; renewals must be scheduled prior to contract start.
