Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit
Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Stepdown RN needed, with possible float to units of similar or lower acuity as needed.
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius.
Experience & Education Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (highest required).
- BSN preferred.
Licensure & Certifications Required
- RN State License and/or Compact State Licensure (pending license acceptable but must be in hand prior to start).
- BCLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (RQI acceptable).
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (RQI acceptable).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for Emergency Department RNs prior to start; ICU RNs required if assignment exceeds 1 year.
- NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) - Required annually for Acute Hospital RN/LPN/LVN in specified units including Stepdown, Emergency Department, ICU, and others.
- State License Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS Verification required.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual).
- Pass/Fail Testing (Basic Dysrhythmia exam) - Required for all RNs and LPN/LVNs; must score 84% or higher with limited attempts. ICU unit has a one-attempt policy.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required if extending past initial contract or for Emergency Department and Mental Health units.
- IV Certification required for LPNs (must be obtained or accepted by Missouri).
Required Documents & Checks
- Background checks including National Criminal Check, State Searches (10 years), County Searches (10 years), SSN Trace, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG.
- Education Verification (official transcript or diploma with graduation date).
- Missouri EDL Search within 30 days of start.
- Drug Screen within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances).
- Physical Exam within last 12 months (not required annually).
- Fit Mask testing completed onsite.
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or declination.
- Mumps: 2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or declination.
- Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or declination.
- Hepatitis B: Proof of vaccination series, titer, or declination.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination.
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Agency-approved Medical/Religious Exemption required during flu season (declinations not accepted).
Additional Requirements
- 2 Professional References within 3 years of start.
- Employment Application required.
- Skills Checklist required.
- Verification of most recent employer.
- Candidate must review and sign Confidentiality Agreement and Code of Conduct.
- Complete Agency Nurse Orientation Quiz with a minimum score of 84% prior to start.

- Uses EPIC for charting.
