Description

Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: ASN or BSN from ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of recent RN experience required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable)
    • ACLS (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification required (completed through Apex, Health Stream, or AHA)
  • Licenses:
    • Valid nursing license verified through Nursys within 30 days of start
    • Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
  • Skills:
    • Resume must demonstrate EPIC electronic health record usage within the last 12 months
    • Float pool experience required
  • Schedule: Block schedules considered on a case-by-case basis (must be noted if needed)
  • Uniform: Solid black scrubs required

Immunization & Health Requirements

  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Fully vaccinated (2 doses if applicable); medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case
  • MMR: Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or proof of complete 3-series vaccination required; signed declinations accepted
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required October through April; medical or religious exemptions require agency approval and attestation
  • Tuberculosis Testing:
    • 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) required with specific timing before start
    • Annual TB questionnaire required
    • If positive PPD, chest X-ray within 1 year of start required
  • Varicella: Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Tdap: Within 10 years of start; no declinations accepted
  • Fit Test: Required for all patient-facing positions; must be current within 1 year
  • Pre-employment Physical: Health statement confirming ability to perform essential job functions required within 1 year

Background & Screening

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Criminal background check (FCRA compliant, 7-year search plus SSN trace and multiple jurisdiction checks) within 90 days of start
  • OIG, EPLS, and other federal exclusion checks within 90 days of start
  • Education verification through third-party
  • Social Security card or number verification required
  • Valid government-issued photo ID required

Competency & Testing

  • Unit-specific competency exam required, passing score needed, updated annually
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually
  • EKG and Telemetry exams required with passing score of 80% or higher, updated annually
  • Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics required within 90 days of start and updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Resume Time Off (RTO) requests limited to a maximum of 7 days; submissions exceeding this will be rejected
  • RN Submission Packet checklist must be completed and included with submission
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong telemetry and medical/surgical skills, EPIC experience, and the ability to meet comprehensive immunization and credentialing requirements.
