Job Description
- Care for patients with liver, kidney, and pancreatic diseases
- Care for recipients of liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants
- Manage patients with complex gastrointestinal disorders
- Serve as a med-surg/telemetry overflow unit
- Floating to other units as needed
Shift Details:
- Days: 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM
- Every other weekend
Requirements
- California RN License (CA License)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Transplant experience specifically with liver, kidney, and pancreas patients
Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; transplant experience required (implies specialized experience)

- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only

- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only, must be Instructor or Advanced Provider Course
- CCRN (Critical Care RN) – verify by position
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – valid for 4 years
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – typically for Labor & Delivery
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – verify by position
- NIH Stroke Certification – verify by position
- Other certifications as required by position or facility
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start, then monthly updates
- Education verification (highest level achieved)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Transcript/Diploma verification as needed
- State license verification (primary source) within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
- Drug testing as noted above
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required for some units)
- Unit-specific competency exams as required
Documentation & Compliance
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- References: 2 professional references for clinical/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care (Aya requirement only)
