Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Sacramento, California
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- California RN License
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Open Heart nursing (highest required specialty experience)
- Pediatric Cardiovascular (CV) and Vascular Hybrid experience preferred
- On-call availability required:
- 4 call teams with an average of 3 days on call per week and 1-2 weekends per month
- Weekend call typically from Friday 3:00 PM to Monday 6:30 AM
- Call shifts vary by team (CV1, CV2, Peds, Hybrid)
- Manager may approve block scheduling (to be discussed during interview)
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including:
- Social Security trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide sex offender search within 90 days of start
- Education verification (highest level achieved)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
- Employment history verification: Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days; gaps over 1 year require approval
- References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
Certifications and Competencies
- Required certifications:
- ACLS, BLS, PALS
- NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI (verify by position)
- State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Competency exams as applicable:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (may be required)
- Unit-specific skills checklist (renew annually)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or boosters as needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (11/1 - 4/30) or signed declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana)
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually
