Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Sacramento, California

Required Qualifications

• California RN License
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Open Heart nursing (highest required specialty experience)
• Pediatric Cardiovascular (CV) and Vascular Hybrid experience preferred
• On-call availability required:

  • 4 call teams with an average of 3 days on call per week and 1-2 weekends per month
  • Weekend call typically from Friday 3:00 PM to Monday 6:30 AM
  • Call shifts vary by team (CV1, CV2, Peds, Hybrid)
• Manager may approve block scheduling (to be discussed during interview)

Background and Screening Requirements

• 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including:

  • Social Security trace with all aliases
  • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
  • Nationwide sex offender search within 90 days of start
  • Education verification (highest level achieved)
  • FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
• Employment history verification: Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days; gaps over 1 year require approval
• References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)

Certifications and Competencies

• Required certifications:

  • ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI (verify by position)
  • State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Competency exams as applicable:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (may be required)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (renew annually)

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or boosters as needed
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity or boosters as needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (11/1 - 4/30) or signed declination
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana)
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually
