Travel RN Opportunity – Danville, Virginia

Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical Surgical RN
  • Location: Danville, VA
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
  • Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
  • Call Requirements: As needed
  • Unit: 4A (Progressive Care Unit)
  • Number of Openings: 1

Facility & Unit Information

  • 28 beds on the unit
  • Patient Ratios:
    • PCU: 1:4
    • Telemetry: 1:6
    • Blended sets: 1:5 (experience required)
  • Patient Population: All ages
  • EHR System: Meditech
  • Float Requirements: May require travel within a 25-mile radius of the facility

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Registered Nurse license valid in Virginia
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • HWC (Health and Wellness Certification)
    • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Experience: 2+ years preferred in Medical Surgical nursing (minimum 1-2 years required)
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must consent to random drug screening and complete a criminal questionnaire/consent form
    • Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
    • Candidates must live 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff

Work Environment & Culture

  • Small town with city amenities, located in “The River District” by the Dan River
  • Facility is a 250-bed academic community hospital with advanced certifications including Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center
  • Dress code: Scrubs of any color; no casual wear allowed
