Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Santa Rosa, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• 20 Bed Telemetry Unit
• Patient types include Cath lab patients, CHF, arrhythmias (symptomatic Afib, Bradycardia), advanced heart failure
• High acuity patients, especially during winter surgical season
• Ratios up to 4:1

Shift Details

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day shift: 07:00 - 19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units within scope of practice based on census/staffing
• No on-call required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• California RN License
• ACLS (AHA or ARC)
• BLS (AHA or ARC)
• NIHSS Certification
• Other certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., CCRN, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) – verify as applicable

Experience Requirements

• Strong foundational knowledge of arrhythmias and management of symptomatic Afib and Bradycardia
• Experience titrating cardiac medications
• Management of Post Cardiac Cath patients
• Experience with advanced heart failure patients
• Years of Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years based on complexity and requirements (default to higher if conflicting info)

Patient Care & Competencies

• Ability to manage high acuity telemetry patients
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
• Sex offender search within 90 days of start
• Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
• Employment history verification with full 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement)
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
• Immunizations and/or titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
• Drug testing as noted above
