Description

Job Summary: Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: North Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (06:30 AM - 03:00 PM), Monday through Friday
  • Holiday obligations required
  • On Call: 11 to 12 days per month, including about every 3rd weekend

Start Date

  • ASAP (Tuesday Orientation)

Experience & Licensure

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience (highest requirement found)
  • Missouri RN license or Compact license required

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) required starting 1/1/2026 (8-hour in-person course or AVADE equivalent)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (annual update required)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for Telemetry, PCU, Critical Care, and ER RNs during orientation
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Dysrhythmia Advanced Course with minimum scores)
  • Safe Medication Administration Agreement (required for all RN candidates)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, TNCC, EFM) but not mandatory for this position

Charting System

  • Experience with Cerner required

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Criminal Background Check covering all states/counties lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required
  • State-specific MO EDL Search prior to start
  • License Primary Source Verification and NURSYS Verification required
  • Transcript/Diploma verification may be required for certain specialties (not applicable here)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test onsite (no facial hair allowed)
  • Flu vaccination required (with approved medical or religious exemptions accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Drug screening (10-panel) within 3 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • COVID vaccination required or acceptable facility-specific waiver form

Facility Policies & Documents

  • Completion of HealthStream modules during orientation
  • Skills checklist to be completed and signed off during first week
  • Adherence to dress code and artificial/natural nail policies
  • Flu shot medical or religious exemption forms accepted with proper documentation
  • Safe Medication Administration Agreement must be signed (non-compliance may result in contract termination)

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

  • CEUs required and must specify credit hours
  • Specific CEU requirements vary by unit; for Med/Surg: 8 Stroke CEUs including NIHSS current
  • CEUs must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually

References & Documentation

  • Two recent references required
  • Candidate application or resume required
