Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Irvine, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details

- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
- Cardiac Cath Lab experience required
- Interventional Radiology (IR) experience required
- Prior Travel Experience:
- No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
- Additional Notes:
- Return to Office (RTO) must be on submittal and cannot be changed once sent to the facility
- No RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Criminal Background Check within 1 year, updated annually (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, federal searches)
- Proof of education and licensure as applicable
- Signed HIPAA acknowledgment
- Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within the last 24 months (minimum 1 contact hour, excluding BLS)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Unit-specific competency exams (e.g., Dysrhythmia/EKG for Telemetry nurses)
- Signed orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Signed unit-specific job description prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year, renewed annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap or Pertussis titer for immunity
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1 (boosters if negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B series or declination (titer not accepted)
- Hepatitis C titer strongly preferred; declination accepted with reason
- Seasonal Flu vaccination required by December 5 (declination accepted with masking requirements)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation for current season or facility-specific declination with masking requirements
- References: 2 references within 1 year from leadership roles (e.g., Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse)
- Employment and work history verification for the past 3 years
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation modules completed onsite for travel staff
- Scrub color requirements: Navy Blue for RNs/LVNs
- Badge and access requirements handled onsite
- Various facility-specific packets and acknowledgments required (e.g., confidentiality, infection control, sexual violence and harassment policy)
- Mandatory review of policies such as Epidural Pain Policy, Skin Care Standard of Care, and Service to Excellence training
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Calculation exam and Arrhythmia Recognition Assessment (EKG exam) with minimum 80% passing score required for applicable units (MS/Tele, Tele, Step Down, ER, ICU, IR, PACU)
- Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens exam with minimum 80% passing score
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card required for ER and Behavioral Health RNs
Summary
This travel Registered Nurse position in Irvine, CA requires at least 2 years of specialty experience, including Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology experience. Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered. Candidates must hold current BLS and ACLS certifications and meet extensive health, background, and competency requirements. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks with weekend coverage every third weekend. Orientation and facility-specific compliance must be completed onsite.
