Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Westminster, Maryland
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Clinical Experience:
- Experience with Medical-Surgical Adult Patients is required
- Ability to float to Med Surg (adults), Family Birthplace, or telemetry units
- Skills:
- Pediatric skills are a plus
- Ability to work independently as the sole caregiver on the unit at times
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Job Details
- The nurse will often be the only caregiver on the unit but will have support from Emergency Department and Family Birthplace staff.
- There may be times with no patients on the unit, during which the nurse may be floated to other areas such as Med Surg, telemetry, or Family Birthplace depending on experience.
- Prior experience is considered when assigning float duties.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Must have a background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Includes SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, education verification, and international searches if applicable
- Licensure:
- Valid RN license with primary source verification
- NURSYS verification required
- Education Verification:
- Verification of nursing education program approval status (especially if education was completed outside Maryland)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly recommended/required
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, CPI, TNCC, EFM, Chemotherapy)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias or Prophecy only), with 2 attempts allowed and remediation required if failed
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
- Required immunizations/vaccinations including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination (or approved exemptions)
- Fit mask testing (respirator fit test) for new contracts
- Other:
- I9 and E-Verify documentation
- Signed acknowledgements for hospital policies including nicotine-free policy, floating policy, time and attendance
- Pass/fail testing acknowledgment for EKG/medication exams
- References and employment verification required
Facility Specific Notes
- The facility is nicotine-free; all travelers must sign the nicotine-free policy.
- EKG exam may be required on-site for this facility.
- Stroke and Trauma CEUs may be required and must be maintained annually depending on unit assignment.
- Travelers must complete and sign floating and time/attendance policies for contracted staff.

This travel Registered Nurse position in Maryland requires at least 2 years of RN experience with Med Surg adult patient care, BLS and PALS certifications, and the ability to work independently.
