Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Columbus, Ohio

Job Details

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor or RQI acceptable; letter of completion not accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor or RQI acceptable; letter of completion not accepted
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - Required for most ICU, PCU, ED, and Brain & Spine units; 2-year expiration applies

Additional Skills / Experience

  • Level 1 Trauma Experience
  • Telemetry and Ventilator experience

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RN/LVN candidates prior to start)
  • Unit-Specific Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam:
    • Required for all RNs within 1 year of start except certain excluded units or fully remote positions
    • Minimum passing score: 76%
    • Must be updated annually starting with new candidates from 7/14/25 and extensions from 8/1/25
    • Remediation process available with up to 3 attempts

  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • High school diploma or GED verification (for RRTs)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12; Tdap required, not TD or DTaP)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive; TB questionnaire required annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series; signed declination acceptable
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption allowed with documentation
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available

Facility Policies and Training

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and form required; certificate must be provided and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

This position requires a highly skilled RN with trauma and telemetry experience, appropriate certifications, and compliance with extensive background, health, and facility-specific requirements. The contract is for approximately 13 weeks with day shifts and some weekend work.
