Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Vallejo, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• California Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
• EPIC experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty

Job Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments; evaluate patient outcomes
• Assess patients for appropriate treatment types and frequency
• Develop, implement, and coordinate care plans based on diagnosis
• Educate patients and families on prevention and management of cardiopulmonary diseases
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions
• Perform all respiratory care modalities and routine diagnostic modalities
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls (Code Blue/Rapid Response)

Education

• Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent education/experience
• Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree or diploma

Certifications & Licensure Requirements

• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 180 days of hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) within 180 days of hire
• Intubation Certification as required by department within certification timeframe

Preferred Experience

• Acute care clinical experience in Respiratory Care
• Training in arterial puncture and blood gas analysis
• Experience performing EKGs is desired

Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, chemistry, and physics
• Familiarity with bedside pulmonary function testing, mechanics, and equipment
• Knowledge of arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, equipment, and quality control
• Understanding of JCAHO and CAP accreditation standards
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently
• Ability to work in fast-paced, challenging environments and respond appropriately in emergencies
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, comprehension)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
• Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screenings
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
• Respiratory Safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
• TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually

Documentation and Verification

• Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days, verified by agency
• Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
• Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas as needed
• Professional license verification within 30 days of start
• References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates
